First line contamination monitor repairs

This half day course is intended for experienced radiation protection surveyors to allow them to change foils on scintillation based contamination monitors and also to repair PET leads while not invalidating a current instrument test certificate. This will allow organisations to make basic repairs of common problems without the need, expense and delay of a full retest.

The course covers:
• Relevant UK guidance and law, basic physics, detector construction, failure symptoms and causes, instrument response to damage, repair procedure, potential for contamination, post-repair testing (sources and light)
• Cable faults and repair
• Practical demonstrations
