Training Courses
Radiation (Emergency Preparedness and Public Information) Regulations 1999 (REPPIR)
This course will give the delegate a good understanding of the REPPIR legislation, who is affected by the legislation and what compliance initiatives are needed to enabe the regulatory requirements to be met.
Regulation 14(1) of REPPIR requires personnel who are authorised to permit an employee to receive an emergency exposure as defined in REPPIR to receive training which will satisfy the requirements of the legislation. This one-day course will provide a basic grounding in the risks to health posed by exposure to ionising radiation, and it will also provide the delegate with a good understanding of the effects of high doses of ionising radiation and the risk this entails of deterministic effects.
Thus, this course not only gives a good grounding in REPPIR, attending the course would also mean that the delegate meets the regulatory requirements for training in respect of health effects of radiation exposure.
It is a legal requirement for any interventional personnel to receive this training, for example, fire fighters, police, ambulance men- any person that would be expected to intervene in the event of a radiological emergency.
