To provide delegates with knowledge of the legislation that governs work with ionising radiation. To enable delegates to identify which legislation is relevant to their work, and how to comply. To emphasise the importance of complying with the legislation.

It should be stressed that this course is very intensive, with a lot of information being provided in a very short time.

Objectives:

  • To become aware of the legal implications of working with ionising radiation;
  • To realise the importance of complying with the legal requirements;
  • To have a general awareness of the requirements of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017, The Environmental Permitting Regulations 2016 for England and Wales (and equivalent regulations for Scotland and Northern Ireland),  and The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009;
  • To understand which legal requirements relating to radiation protection must be considered at each stage of a project, i.e. Design, construction and active commissioning/decommissioning;
  • To know what action to take in order to meet the requirements
